Turning my passions into a profession
Before working with me,
get to know me better
- I was born on World Book Day, so there is no way I could have been a scientist. I’ve loved reading and learning languages from a young age. This love led me to take a BA in English Language and Literature at the renowned University of Deusto in my hometown, Bilbao, while also studying German and French.
- After completing my 5-year degree, qualifying me to be a teacher of English as a foreign language, I chose to develop my career as a translator. Then, I headed to London to take a Postgraduate Diploma in Technical and Specialised Translation at the University of Westminster.
- What started as a first work experience at TraduNet ended up as an adventure of over 25 years that saw me grow up both personally and professionally.
- Working as an in-house translator first, and later as an editor and project manager for a broad international client portfolio and with fellow translators from different specialities has allowed me to gain a deep insight into the sector. It has also helped me evolve, enabling me to use new tools such as CAT tools and cooperate with international clients.
- I live in Bilbao, a town in the Basque country, a Spanish region with many business and cultural links to England and Ireland, such as our love for music and football, and to our French neighbours with whom we share a love for food and red wine. Bilbao is home to Frank Gehry’s magnificent Guggenheim Museum of contemporary art and a top destination for art lovers and foodies from all over the world. When I am not working, I enjoy attending the first-class exhibitions at the Guggenheim. I also do Pilates to stretch my body and mind and make up for long hours in front of the computer.
- I am a member of Asetrad, the Spanish Association of Translators, Editors and Proof-Readers, which means I work professionally and abide by its code of professional ethics and conduct and my own personal code of ethics.
